Aguara Edition is Wanderum’s most authentic and fresh expression – a rum with a natural, vibrant character of sugarcane. On the nose, you are met by aromas of freshly pressed cane juice and green, aromatic notes. The blend offers a subtle touch of tropical sweetness, instantly evoking the lush landscapes of Madeira.

On the palate, the flavor unfolds as rich and balanced: the freshness of the sugarcane is deepened by years spent in oak barrels that have traveled across the world, each leaving its mark. Complex notes of raisins, caramel, and dates appear, balanced with a delicate hint of licorice. A subtle tone of dry, spiced grass adds an elegant edge, enhancing the whole without overpowering it.

The finish is crisp, rounded, and persistent — a meeting of freshness and maturity. In short, Aguara Edition is a tribute to the pure soul of the sugarcane, enriched by the warmth of the cask and the depth of exotic distillates. A blend created in the heart of North Jutland by Anders, inviting both reflection and enjoyment, spiced in true Wanderum character. Built on the unique flavor of sugarcane from Madeira, combined with, among other elements, 10-year barrel-aged rum drawn from Anders’ own stills.

On the sweetness scale, it sits right in the middle — a perfect balance between La Tatuana and Sherpa Edition. Madeira is known for its lush valleys, volcanic soils, and the historic levadas that guide water through the island’s fields. Here, some of the finest sugarcane in the Atlantic is grown. In collaboration with local farmers, we hand-selected the best cane, pressed on the same day, and produced a distillate that was then matured at the island’s distillery according to our specifications. The result is a rum that clearly carries both the terroir of Madeira and the Wanderum signature blend.

The inspiration for the Aguara Edition comes from Madeiran folklore. According to legend, small fox-like spirit beings — the Aguaras — live along the levadas. They are guardians of the water and of nature’s purity. Invisible to the human eye, they can be heard whistling or singing under the full moon.
